So I decided that it was time to start a blog. I figured as a teacher, a newlywed, and a SLOW runner that's decided to train for a half marathon, I had alot to share. Most of this is for my own satisfaction.
Training so far has been hard. I have to admit, I am a runner that hates to run. It's just one of those things. I like how I feel after a run. I like runners' bodies. I like being able to tell people that I can run 5, 6, or more miles without stopping. I do, however, HATE to run.
I decided to embark on this training session to get me in shape for a half marathon in October. So far, "training" (though I haven't really started training for the half, as it's a ways away) has been an adventure. My friend, we'll call her TOY2, convinced me that it would be a good idea to run a 10K this Sunday. Now, I have run 6(ish) miles, back a year and a half ago, but fell off the running wagon a bit, and just recently decided to get back on. The last few weeks have been a focus on getting my stamina back.
So far, I started this week as such:
Sunday: soccer game
Monday: rest
Tuesday: 3.1 mile run (31mins)
Wednesday: 4 mile run (41 minutes)
Thursday: Rest
The rest of the week will be:
Friday: EASY 2 miles
Saturday: rest
Sunday: RACE!!!
I just hope I can run the whole thing without any walk breaks.
My plan of attack is to run at easy pace (the most I have run recently is 5 FLAT miles on the American Tobacco Trail), and to stop at every water station and refuel and stretch for a couple of seconds. I just need prayers that I finish.
